Same-sex marriages gradually gain legal ground

Even in states that don't allow gay marriage, court decisions on child custody, divorce and other issues are giving incremental rights to same-sex couples.

Serves you right Miss California - violated her contract by working with a national group opposed to gay marriage and by posing semi-nude when she was

The directors of the Miss California USA pageant -- who met early Tuesday to determine whether Carrie Prejean violated her contract by working with a national group opposed to gay marriage and by posing semi-nude when she was a teenage model -- have yet to decide if Prejean should be stripped of her crown.

FOCUS ON THE FAMILY - James Dobson is Going Completely Mad Over Hate Crimes

Right Wing Watch posted a new video of James Dobson (he said he was going away in February), who has reemerged to bail water out of the sinking ship of the religious right. Dobson returns with a message for his minions.

It says, in part: "As I'm recording this video greeting, there's a so-called hate crimes bill that's working its way through the congress that contains no adequate safeguards to protect the preaching of God's word. Because the liberals in Congress would not define sexual orientation, we have to assume that protection under the law will be extended to the 30 sexual disorders identified as such by the American Psychiatric Association. Let me identify some of them: bisexuality, exhibitionism, fetishism, incest, necrophilia, pedophilia, prostitution, sexual masochism, voyeurism, and bestiality. Those are just a few. And I have to ask, have we gone completely mad?"

Court grants teen breast removal

An Australian teenager, who was born female but lives as a male, has been given permission by a court to have both breasts surgically removed.

The 17-year-old, known as Alex in court and referred to as a boy, has a psychological condition that makes him unhappy with his gender.

The Family Court in Melbourne said the removal of both breasts would help Alex to build a new life as a boy.

The decision has angered Catholic groups, who view it as irresponsible.

Alex has "gender identity dysphoria", a psychological condition where a person believes they are the opposite sex, the Age newspaper reported. Alex has been on hormone treatment since he was 13 to prevent menstruation, it said.
